There are lots of discount shops - we have named a few. Hopefully visitors comments will add more information
- 1–2 riyal / discount market near Gate 339 — This is one of the cheapest options I found. It is north of Gate 339, across from Grand Plaza Almadina Hotel; go down to the lower-ground level. Many items are around SAR 1–2, with prayer beads, small gifts, bags, prayer items, etc. Check out the Youtube link below
- Old Bazaar — Only about 2–5 minutes' walk from the mosque. Good for tasbeeh, prayer mats, scarves, clothing, perfumes and souvenirs. Bargaining is worthwhile.
- Shops/stalls around the Haram gates — There are many small roadside-style vendors selling souvenirs, scarves, caps, bags, dates and other inexpensive items. Don't accept the first price; compare a few stalls.
- Al Majidi market between Gates 16 and 17 — Very convenient for last-minute shopping, with dates, perfumes, prayer goods, Islamic clothing and souvenirs. Reviews specifically mention negotiating prices.
